By referring you to our office your dentist is demonstrating a strong commitment to optimal dental care. We recognize the value of good communication between doctors and have therefore made a commitment to work with your general dentist to enable the most comprehensive treatment program. We regularly communicate with your dentist during your treatment as well as during follow up. It is important to return to your general dentist on a regular basis for exams and oral hygiene visits.
Pre-Surgical and Post-Surgical Instructions
Some of the services we offer include:
|
|
|---|
Non-Surgical Care
Non-surgical care includes deep scaling and root planing to remove plaque and calculus deposits, comprehensive home care instructions, and dental education sessions. We also use a periodontal endoscope as an aid to visualize the area under your gums without the need for surgery.
Gum Grafting
Gum grafting involves adding gum tissue to the exposed root of the affected tooth or teeth to correct recession where the outer layer of bone has been lost. Gum grafting will prevent further recession, bone loss, root decay and root abrasion. Teeth that are cold sensitive or have obvious “lengthy root” appearances will benefit from the improved cosmetic look that gum grafting provides.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are Titanium foundations that replace the root portion of a missing single tooth or several teeth. A dental implant provides several advantages over other replacement options. In addition to looking and functioning like a natural tooth, a dental implant replaces a tooth without sacrificing the health of neighboring teeth or having to wear removable dentures.
Guided Tissue Regeneration
Guided tissue regeneration promotes the regrowth of gum tissue and bone lost due to periodontal disease. A bone graft and/or biological growth factors are used in conjunction with this procedure.
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting promotes the addition of new bone to areas where gum disease previously eroded it. We use various types of grafting materials. Most grafts help your own bone to create new bone.
Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
Gingivectomy or gingivoplasty are procedures used to reduce and reshape excessive gum tissue. Both procedures involve the removal and sculpting of your gum tissue to improve your appearance and facilitate better hygiene.
Esthetic Crown Lengthening
Esthetic crown lengthening corrects a “gummy smile” that makes your teeth appear short. Your teeth may actually be the proper length, but they’re covered with excess gum tissue. During this procedure, excess gum and bone tissue are sculpted to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth, to even your gum line, or to several teeth to expose a natural smile.
Functional Crown Lengthening
Functional crown lengthening is a procedure warranted for restorative reasons to provide tooth length and better fit for the future restoration. It is also indicated when a tooth has been fractured or has decayed beneath the gum line.
Ridge Repair and Augmentation
Ridge repair and augmentation are procedures used to repair defects due to extraction or tooth loss. These procedures create adequate bone and gum tissue in which to place dental implants and/or enable the restoration of lost tissue so replacement of teeth made by your general dentist will have a maximum functional and esthetic result.
Sinus Lift
The upper back jaw has traditionally been one of the most difficult areas to successfully place dental implants due to insufficient bone quantity and quality and the close proximity to the sinus. If you've lost bone in that area due to reasons such as periodontal disease or tooth loss, you may be left without enough bone to place implants. Sinus augmentation can help correct this problem by raising the sinus floor and developing bone for the placement of dental implants.
Periodontal and Dental Implant Maintenance
After your mouth is healthy again, we provide continuing periodontal and implant care to reduce the chance of disease recurrence and to keep teeth, implants, and gums strong.
